Boat fire in Englewood

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - A coordinated marine emergency response involving multiple fire departments helped extinguish a fire aboard a 52-foot boat Thursday morning, with all three people and a dog on board escaping unharmed, officials said. The incident was reported around 10:45 a.m., when Fire Boat 72, part of the area’s mutual aid Marine Emergency Response Team responded to a report of a vessel on fire. Fire boats from Charlotte County Fire EMS and the Cape Coral Fire Department also joined the operation.Officials noted that when a boat catches fire or when a marine search is needed, a single agency often isn’t enough, which is why departments train and respond together. The goal, they said, is simple: many crews and one mission, to get everyone home safe.
